Henry and the Flea has not won any major awards but it has achieved the following distinctions:

1. It was selected as one of the Notable Childrens Books of 2003 by the Childrens Literature Foundation (CLFNZ).

2. It was nominated for the Esther Glenn Medal by the Librarians Association of New Zealand (LIANZA).
